ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS (meet one of the following criteria)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Fire Protection-related discipline plus 2 years of work experience dedicated to curtailing fire loss.
  • Associate’s degree in a Fire Protection-related discipline plus 4 years of work experience dedicated to curtailing fire loss.
  • High school diploma, or equivalent, plus 6 years of work experience dedicated to curtailing fire loss.

  • Get yourself enrolled for training and exam preparation by paying $399
  • Complete online CFPS online application
  • Pay the $399.00 initial exam fee
  • Submit the required documents
  • NFPA will email an authorization letter with exam scheduling instructions
  • Proctored computer-based exam, at an in-person testing center or via online remote proctoring
  • Open book
  • Exam duration 3-hours
  • 100 multiple choice questions
  • You have 12 months, from the application approval date, to pass the exam.
